This program supports the local Karen, Lahu and Shan hill tribes. The Karen refer to a number of individual Sino - Tibetan language speaking ethnic groups, many of which do not share a common language or culture. These Karen groups reside primarily in Karen State, southern and southeastern Myanmar and the Thai - Myanmar border areas.

Day 01: Arrive Bangkok

Arrive Bangkok international airport, meet and greet and transfer to your hotel.   Check in time starts from 1500 hrs.  Rest of the day at leisure. Perhaps you could indulge yourself with a traditional Thai Massage, surprise your taste buds with the amazing local flavors and cap off the day by enjoying sunset in any of the stylish rooftop bars which have blossomed in the city’s skyscrapers in recent years… the options are limitless.
Overnight: Hotel Royal Bangkok in Chinatown, Bangkok (2 nights)

Day 02: Bangkok

Today’s tour includes three of the most important Buddhist temples in Bangkok.  Wat Traimit also known as the temple of the Golden Buddha houses a 3 meters tall statue made from solid gold and weighing 5.5 tons. You will then pass through Chinatown on your way to Wat Pho, the temple of the Reclining Buddha and home to the Chedis of the Kings. At 46 meters in length and 15 meters high the Buddha is the largest in Bangkok and illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The Grand Palace is one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Siamese court.  It used to be the residence of the Kings of Bangkok.  Here you will see palaces which were used for different occasions: the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House, and Wat Phra Keo, the beautiful Emerald Buddha Temple. To round off the tour, we call in at a local lapidary factory and showroom where you will be able to get locally made jewellery, handicrafts and silk at competitive prices. (B)

Day 03: Bangkok/Chiang Mai (Overnight train)

Check out by 1100 hrs.  Morning is free at your leisure.   Afternoon transfer to Hua Lampong train station for the overnight train ride to Chiang Mai.

Day 04: Arrive Chiang Mai

You will be met by the local representative in Chiang Mai train station and transfer to the hotel – check in time starts at 1500 hrs.   The rest of the day is free to either relax at the hotel or set out to explore on your own this charming town, which is surrounded by walls and a moat.   Wander through streets and alleys teeming with lovely artisan shops or maybe savor the many local food stalls.   In the evening, a visit to the night market is a must, with an astonishing selection of local handicrafts, colorful souvenirs, tasty snacks and more!.

Day 05: Chiang Mai/Mae Teang (Drive/Trek)

Pick up from the hotel by a local truck and stop at Mae Malai, a local market for a fascinating look around. Continue to Mok Fha Waterfall and on to Baan Pang Lun for lunch at a local restaurant.  Take a short drive along the windy road to Huay Nam Dung National Park where your trek to Baan Mae Jok Karen village begins (approx. 2 hours). Arrive at the village, where you will be welcomed by the local people. Dinner and overnight at a Karen Hilltribe village.

Day 06: Mae Teang

Pack your bag after breakfast at the village and set out for a 4 hours trek, following a natural path to an elephant camp.  After lunch, relax during an forgettable 45 minutes elephant ride along the jungle’s trails and creeks to our next Karen Hilltribe village.
Overnight: Karen Hilltribe village (dormitory style with no electricity), Mae Teang (1 night) (B, L, D)

Day 07: Mae Teang/Chiang Mai (Bamboo raft/Drive)

Enjoy breakfast at the village before sailing down the Mae Teang River on a bamboo raft (approximately 2 hours). Stop briefly at a Lahu Hilltribe village at Baan Pong Ngan before continuing your exciting river journey to a Shan village (approximately 3 hours). Lunch will be served at the Shan village where your Northern adventure ends with a road transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.

Day 08: Chiang Mai

Today you will enjoy a Cooking Course at Sarapee district in a Lanna-style teak house and learn the art of Thai cuisine from master cooks in a typical Thai kitchen. Roll up your sleeves and try your hands at cooking the most famous food and desserts of the country: gather herbs and local vegetables from the garden and prepare them to create various types of mouth-watering dishes. During the course, you will gain a sound knowledge about local herbs and ingredients. You will then be ready to prepare and cook delicious Thai food for your friends and loved ones back home. The rest of the day is free at leisure. (B, L)

Day 09: Chiang Mai

Today is free at leisure for you to enjoy/explore this charming city on your own. (B)

Day 10: Depart Chiang Mai

After our enlightening journey through this fascinating country, we are transferred to the airport for our departure flight. (B)

Please be advised that the programs for days 5, 6 & 7 are subject to weather conditions; therefore, the duration, order of visits/activities may change without prior notice.  Excess luggage should be stored at the hotel in Chiang Mai during the above days, as guests is only allowed a bag/backpack (max 5kg) and nothing else as there will be no porters available, which means guests will be carrying their own bag/backpack.
