Day 01: Arrive Nairobi

Upon arrival at the JKIA airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. Balance of the day is free.

Overnight: Nairobi Serena Hotel (1 night)

Day 02: Nairobi/Aberdares National Park

We start with an interesting countryside driving through the central highlands to the Aberdares National Park. We stop at local villages before reaching the incredible Aberdares National Park. The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife. Modeled after Noah's Ark, The Ark has four viewing decks with balconies and lounges to provide superb game viewing from the comfort of your lodge. The animals come to you! This becomes an ideal introduction to the wildlife before we actually follow them on the day to follow.

Day 03: Aberdares/Olpejeta Conservancy/Sweetwaters

Morning another opportunity to view the game at the lodge before going on  scenic drive to the world famous Olpejeta Conservancy. The conservancy is known the world over for its impressive work in helping increase the population of endangered species. Afternoon, we have a game drive and try to locate the large variety of animals including the big five, the endangered as well as have a unique experience with the chimpanzees. We will attempt at seeing as many of the endangered species as possible. Later we continue a short drive to the enchanting Sweetwaters Camp.

Day 04: Olpejeta Conservancy/Lake Nakuru National Park

Today we cross the Equator. It will be an opportunity to experience the two hemispheres under your feet. Our next stop is the majestic Thompson Falls before reaching Lake Nakuru. After lunch and rest we are in for another exciting game safari. Lake Nakuru supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

Day 05: Lake Nakuru National Park/Mara National reserve

A shirt drive gets us to the Lake Naivasha where we enjoy a boat trip on this beautiful lake known for its some 350 species of birds.  After the cruise we proceed south - the best in wildlife sanctuary has been left to the end. We arrive Masai Mara, one of the most well known game sanctuaries in the world in time for a hot lunch and after a brief rest time we embark on our first of the four game safaris we will have at the world famous Mara. Masai is the warrior tribe that resides in these plains. The Masai Mara, which is an extension of the Serengeti, is known to offer large animal viewing with exceptionally large population of lions, leopards and cheetahs. It also falls on the animal migration route bringing in large numbers of zebras, wildbeest, Thomson’s gazelles, etc. Masai Mara can often offer us close encounters of the wildlife in their wilderness.

Day 06: Mara National Reserve

Full day at the Mara enjoying two game safaris. Keep track of how many species you encounter – and you will loose track. The Mara offers an ideal topography to enjoy photography, study of animals, of flora, fauna, birding, and just enjoying nature at its best. Very likely we will see tree-climbing lions – at times as high as 10 feet above ground. An ideal opportunity to add an optional Balloon safari done early in the morning (costs $ 525). (B, L, D)

Day 07: Mara National Reserve/Nairobi

Today before we depart, we will have one more morning safari at the Mara adding more to the list of animals we will have seen. Then morning game will end with a hot lunch before we are transferred to Nairobi Airport – most international flights depart late evening from Nairobi. Optional overnight at the Nairobi and/or extensions to other neighbouring countries can be arranged. This will have been a safari of a lifetime. (B, L)
