Moving beyond COVID-19
March 23, 2020
At Bestway Tours & Safaris, the health, safety and comfort of our travellers is one of our top priorities. If you are considering booking travel, or making travel plans, and wondering how COVID-19 will affect you, please don't hesitate to get in touch. It is more important than ever in these times to have a travel advocate and professional on your side when booking tours for 2021 and beyond. We look forward to helping and supporting our travellers on their 2021 adventures.
Here is our perspective.
History has shown us time and time again that, in the face of adversity, we are resilient. We can survive, conquer and thrive.
This is not a time to panic. This is a time to work together—as this has transcended both cultural, geographical and political borders. Let’s think as one global community—as we are in this together.
For one, let’s look at the term “social distancing”, which we are being reminded to observe over and over again. I feel that the real message is to actually observe and maintain “physical distance” rather than social distance. The recommended 2 meters between people is definitely physical, not social!
Right now, we need to establish and maintain social closeness and cohesiveness, rather than social distancing. There are countless people in different situations who need support, including family members, friends, community and many others living here and abroad.
In our travels, we have made friends locally and internationally. This is a good time to reestablish contact to find out how they are doing and give them words of encouragement. This can be done without being physically close.
All of us have been impacted in many ways. All of us need comforting words and encouragement. So let us try to reach out to as many as we can: the elderly, the young, the fragile and, especially, the lonely. This will help them and us combat COVID-19 together.
As a team, we will make this virus short-lived and, simultaneously, make the world a better place for all.
This is one of the first times in the history of global pandemics that technology helps us be close to one another, yet not in close proximity. There are many ways to socially connect online for one-on-one conversations, group chats, family reunions and more.
In closing, I would recommend that when we hear or read the news, we must make sure it is coming from authentic sources. Additionally, there is only so much negative news a person can handle. It would be good to limit the time we all dedicate to being glued to the TV. Time can be put to better use by reading books, watching movies and documentaries, connecting with others and sending positive messages. Use the many digital tools we have available to support one another. Most are free too!
As we stand together, we know that we have conquered past global adversities, and we will conquer this one as well. We have hope and faith that this time, it will be with minimal loss to human life across the globe.
Take care and best wishes from your team at Bestway Tours & Safaris.
