Day 01: Arrive Cape Town (SOUTH AFRICA)

Upon arrival in Cape Town, we are warmly met and transferred to our hotel. Take the remainder of the day to explore this famous city on your own and enjoy the vibrant mix of cultures, cuisines and activities it has to offer. We highly recommend a visit to the V & A Waterfront, situated in the heart of Cape Town’s working harbour, which offers an abundance of indoor shopping and entertainment.
Overnight: The Townhouse Hotel, Cape Town (3 nights)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, bar and restaurant)

Day 02: Cape Town

After breakfast at our hotel, we take the cable car up the legendary Table Mountain* (subject to weather) for spectacular views of the Mother City and the surrounding peninsula. Here lies Africa’s southern tip – the Cape if Good Hope. Back in the city, we will see the Company Gardens, Greenmarket Square, the SA Museum and the colourful, picturesque Malay Quarter known as Bo-Kaap. Balance of the day is free to enjoy this beautiful city. (B)

Day 03: Cape Town

An exciting day ahead as we explore the Cape Peninsula. Travelling along the Atlantic Seabord via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, we stop at Maiden Cove look-out point before continuing to Hout Bay. Here you have the option to take a boat trip to Seal Island (seasonal, cost not included). We carry on over Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives, to Cape Point and Good Hope Nature Reserve. In the afternoon, we journey on to Simon’s Town, a village with charming Victorian architecture, a naval base and a large penguin colony at beautiful Boulders Beach. (B)

Day 04: Cape Town/Cedarberg Mountains (Drive)

An early start takes us to one of the stunning beaches along the Atlantic Ocean for one last look at Table Mountain across the bay. After lunch prepared by our guide, we head towards the scenic Cedarberg Mountains. Here we overnight in Clanwilliam, one of the ten oldest towns in the country. Upon arrival, enjoy a local favourite of Rooibos tea tasting. Rooibos is indigenous to the Western Cape and has major nutritional and health benefits. Finish the day with dinner at the lodge.
Overnight: Clanwilliam Lodge, Clanwilliam (1 night) (B, L, D)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, restaurant, bar and swimming pool)

Days 05: Cedarberg Mountains/Orange River (Drive) (NAMIBIA)

Travelling up the West Coast, we pass through magnificent mountain ranges on our way to the Orange River. If it is springtime, you will see the spectacular carpets of wildflowers in the famous Namaqualand region. Later in the afternoon, following lunch prepared by our guide, we reach the Orange River. This river is the natural border between South Africa and Namibia.
Overnight: Felix Unite Camp Provenance, Orange River (2 nights) (B, L, D)
(Chalets with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool and bar)

Day 06: Orange River

After breakfast at our accommodation, put your feet up and enjoy a relaxing canoe voyage as the currents take us downstream on the stunning Orange River. Mind the rapids though!. (B, L, D)

Days 07: Orange River/Ai-Ais/Fish River Canyon (Drive)

A scenic drive today as we make our way to Namibia’s Fish River Canyon. First we head to Ai-Ais, where we stop for lunch. Here thermal water gushes from the hot springs. This healing water is rich in sulphates and fluorides, and boasts a temperature of approximately 60 degrees Celsius. In the Nama language, “Ai-Ais” means “burning water”. Check in and rest in our lodge situated close to the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon on earth. Later in the evening, we take in another perfect African sunset with the magnificent views along the edge of the canyon.
Overnight: Canyon Roadhouse, Fish River Canyon (1 night) (B, L, D)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)

Day 08: Fish River Canyon/Sossusvlei (Drive)

Moving inland, we travel toward Namib Naukluft National Park*, which is home to the Namib desert. An inspiration for the name Namibia itself, the Namib is the oldest desert on earth. Its breathtaking, burnt orange sand dunes are perhaps the most famous in the world.
Overnight: Agama River Camp, Sossusvlei (2 nights)(B, L, D)
(Chalets with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)

Day 09: Sossusvlei

Today we wake up early to visit the world’s highest sand dunes at Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. These dunes, which can reach heights of over 300 meters, are absolutely spectacular and provide a fantastic photo opportunity. With luck, there may even be water in the vlei (lake). We also stop to view the Sesriem Canyon, which was carved millions of years ago by the Tsauchab River. (B, L)

Day 10: Sossusvlei/Swakopmund (Drive)

An interesting day as we drive through Namib Naukluft National Park on our way to Swakopmund. The Namib-Naukluft Desert is home to some of the rarest plant and animal species in the world, and a drive to discover the flora and fauna is a must on any African safari vacation. The animals of this harsh landscape include oryx, springbok and Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra. Later in the day, we arrive at the charming coastal town of Swakopmund, with time to soak up this town’s beauty and beaches.
Overnight: Hotel A La Mer, Swakopmund (2 nights) (B, L)
(Standard rooms with en suite bathrooms)

Day 11: Swakopmund

Our day is free to enjoy this quaint German town and its charming atmosphere. We will have time to participate in a few of the many optional activities Swakopmund has to offer. Contact Bestway Tours & Safaris to arrange a township tour, a sand boarding excursion, a dolphin, seal and whale cruise, or a fishing adventure in this scenic and exciting spot. (B)

Day 12: Swakopmund/Omaruru (Drive)

We follow the barren Atlantic Coast on our way out of Swakopmund to visit Cape Cross, the largest breeding place of the Cape fur seals. Leaving the coastline behind, we head inland across the desert plains to Spitzkoppe, an iconic group of curved granite mountains with vivid colours. After a walk among the boulders to view the ancient Bushmen paintings and engravings, we continue on to the town of Omaruru, where we overnight. Once a mission station, this settlement has great historic significance and has evolved into an artistic hub for local crafts and small industries.
Overnight: Omaruru Guesthouse, Omaruru (1 night) (B, L)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool and dining room area)

Day 13: Omaruru/Kamanjab (Drive)

A unique cultural experience today as we stop at a local distillery and small wine cellar in Omaruru to taste some of its home-grown produce. We then head off toward Kamanjab, where we explore a Himba village in the afternoon. Here we have the rare chance to learn about and understand the ways of the last traditional tribe in Namibia, the Ova-Himba.
Overnight: Oppi Koppi Restcamp, Kamanjab (B, L, D)
(Chalets with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)

Day 14: Kamanjab/Etosha National Park (Drive)

After our cultural exchange in Kamanjab, we head to Etosha National Park. Declared a national park in 1907, Etosha is home to approximately 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and surprisingly, one species of fish.
Overnight: Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park (2 nights) (B, L, D)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)

Elephants and lions are also particularly common. Our nights are spent at the floodlit water holes encountering the park’s varied animals as they come to drink. (B, L)

Day 16: Etosha National Park

After breakfast at our camp, we embark on another full day of game drives. Keep your eye out for four of the Big Five animals, or try to spot smaller species like the warthog, honey badger, or bat-eared fox. After enjoying a jaw-dropping sunset, a second night at one of Etosha’s famous watering holes provides perhaps the best opportunity in Africa to see one of the park’s black rhinoceros, a highly endangered animal.
Overnight: Namutoni, Etosha National Park (B, L)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)

Days 17: Etosha National Park/Kavango River (Drive)

Our journey continues east as we drive along the Caprivi Strip to the town of Rundu. We make our way to our accommodation and spend a relaxing afternoon on the banks of the scenic Kavango River. Optional activities such as a visit to the Mbunza Living Museum, a traditional cultural school and communal business for the local Kavango people, or a sunset cruise are available. Alternatively, just relax by the pool listening to the sounds of Mother Nature.
Overnight: Kaisosi River Lodge, Kavango River (1 night) (B, L)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)

Days 18: Kavango River/Okavango Delta (Drive) (BOTSWANA)

We leave Namibia for Etsha13, on the western border of the Okavango Delta* in Botswana. One of Africa’s best great wildlife habitats, the Okavango is a highlight of any Botswana safari. It offers breathtaking scenery and huge concentrations of game life.
Overnight: Guma Lagoon Camp, Okavango Delta (2 nights) (B, L, D)
(Permanent tents with en suite bathrooms and bar area)

Day 19: Okavango Delta

We spend the day exploring the Okavango’s unique network of water pathways, floating through thick vegetation in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes). Along the way, we will discover a variety of birds and wildlife. We also stop at a secluded island to take a 1.5 hour guided walk with the opportunity to spot elephants, waterbuck or other animals living in this water-filled paradise. (B, L, D)

Day 20: Okavango Delta/Kwando River (Drive) (NAMIBIA)

Leaving Botswana, we drive up the western border of the Okavango Delta before crossing back into Namibia. Next we drive through the Caprivi to our camp on the banks of the Kwando River. En route to camp, we go on a game drive through Mahangu National Park, which is rich in fauna and flora. The park is home to elephants, hippo and buffalo, as well as sable, roan and many other types of antelope. Bird-watchers can also spot more than 420 different bird species.
Overnight: Camp Kwando, Kwando River (1 night) (B, L, D)

(Permanent tented chalets with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)

Day 21: Kwando River/Chobe National Park (Drive) (BOTSWANA)

After breakfast at our camp, we head along the Caprivi and cross the border back into Botswana. There we continue on to Kasane, the gateway to Chobe National Park. As the second largest national park in the country, covering 10,566 kilometers squared, Chobe is another highlight for Botswana safari tours. After settling in to our lodge, we enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Overnight: Chobe Safari Lodge, Chobe National Park (B, L, D)
(Rooms with en suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar and restaurant)
