DAY 2 KATHMANDU Exploration of
the Kathmandu Valley*, including the
famous Durbar Square and the stupa of
Swayambhunath, followed by a visit to Patan.

DAY 3 KATHMANDU Explore Gilded
Copper Gate in Bhadgeon, the Hindu
Temple of Shiva and the Buddhist stupa of
Boudhnath. (B, D)
DAY 4 KATHMANDU • DELHI (Flight)
We fly to Delhi, where we are met and
transferred to our hotel. The remainder of
the day is free. Overnight: Sheraton, New

DAY 5 DELHI Our exploration of Delhi
includes the famous Red Fort complex*,

named for its massive walls of red sandstone.
Next take a rickshaw ride through the
narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk market and
visit the Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque. Fort*. This powerful fortress of red sandstone
Then discover New Delhi, including Birla
House, India Gate, Humayun's Tomb* and
Qutub Minar*. Evening enjoy a dinner at a
DAY 6 DELHI • VARANASI (Flight)
Short flight to Varanasi. Visit Bharat Mata
Temple, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir
and Banaras Hindu University. Evening
witness the spectacular Aarti ceremony on
the Ghats by the River Ganges. Overnight:

DAY 7 VARANASI • KHAJURAHO (Flight)
Sunrise cruise on the Ganges to observe
the morning rituals of the Hindu pilgrims
on the riverbanks. Experience the ancient
Buddhist site of Sarnath before transferring
to the airport. We fly to Khajuraho, where
we visit the famous 11th century temples of
Khajuraho*. Evening is free. Overnight: Mint

DAY 8 KHAJURAHO • ORCHHA (Drive)
• AGRA (Train) Visit the medieval fortress-
city of Orchha, then head to Jhansi to board
our luxury train to Agra, where we transfer to pink capital of Rajasthan, named for the

DAY 9 AGRA A stunning sunrise visit
to the Taj Mahal* allows us to see the
morning light reflect off this immense
marble mausoleum, built between 1631 and
1648 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in
memory of his favourite wife. Next visit Agra
encompasses the imperial city of the Mughal
rulers. Later explore Fatehpur Sikri* and the
Salim Chisty mausoleum. (B, D)
IMPORTANT NOTE: On nights with a Full
Moon, the Taj Mahal's pure white marble
shimmers silver in the moonlight and the site
is open to visitors. When available, we can
arrange an optional tour to enjoy this very
special occasion.
DAY 10 AGRA • RANTHAMBORE (Drive)
Explore Rajasthan on our way to Ranthambore,
the former hunting ground of the Maharajas of
Jaipur. Afternoon we board our safari vehicles
for our first jungle safari to track the Royal
Bengal tigers.

DAY 11 RANTHAMBORE • JAIPUR (Drive)
An exciting morning game safari before we
embark on a scenic drive to Jaipur, the rose
many buildings in the old city made of pink
sandstone. In the evening, enjoy a Rajasthan
Cultural Dance performance with dinner.

DAY 12 JAIPUR Sample the hilltop views at
Amber Palace*, followed by visits to the Palace
of Winds, the Jantar Mantar* astronomical
observatory, the Royal Palace and the colourful
