The East African countries of Uganda and Rwanda are known for their natural heritage. Both not only offer wildlife sightings very different from their neighbours, but also a unique cultural experience that is the envy of other African countries. Uganda has 10 national game parks, including Lake Mburo and Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks, which hosts the largest population of gorillas in the world, a highlight of African safari trips. Rwanda, also famous for gorillas, is home to the quirky golden monkeys. This artistically designed safari provides a rare opportunity to see some of the world’s most unique endangered primates.

Day 04: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
The awaited day! Optional Gorilla tracking – the Ugandan experience. A captivating, unforgettable activity. We start at 0730AM in small groups of no more than 8 people, accompanied by a forest expert. Hiking through the thick, verdant rainforest, we eventually come across the gorillas in their natural habitat. It is an amazing site and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Actual trek times can vary as gorillas wander from one part of the park to another, but our forest expert will have a way to narrow down the search. Only 104 gorilla viewing permits are issued for any given day.
Afternoon is free to enjoy the many optional activities that are unique to Bwindi, like a village walk or a waterfall hike. (B, L, D)
Day 05: Bwindi/Ruhengeri (Drive) (RWANDA)
We bid farewell to the country that Winston Churchill called The Pearl Of Africa. Crossing overland to Rwanda we will be at Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans) late morning. Afternoon is free to relax or take an optional tour. Set aside time to plan your next day’s activity, with the choice to either do another gorilla tracking (subject to permits) or encounter the golden monkeys.
Overnight: Five Volcanoes Lodge/Davinci Lodge, Ruhengeri (2 nights) (B, L, D)
Day 06: Ruhengeri
Optional Gorilla tracking – the Rwandan experience. Morning is the time for another exciting round of gorilla tracking. Seven gorilla families reside at the Volcanoes National Park. There is an element of hiking on relatively easy terrain. The adventure can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how soon you see the gorillas.
