Day 01: Arrive Entebbe (UGANDA)

Uganda's capital is Kampala, but the main airport is Entebbe (EBB), located just 30 km away. Historically known as the Kingdom of Buganda, the country’s dominant tribe is the Baganda, and the most widely spoken language is Luganda. Winston Churchill famously called Uganda the "Pearl of Africa".

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll complete immigration and meet your driver, who will warmly welcome you to Uganda. You'll be transferred to your accommodation for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay, preparing for your safari adventure the next day.

Overnight: Option 1: Boma Guest House, Entebbe / Option 2: Hotel No.5, Entebbe (1 night)

Day 02: Entebbe/Lake Mburo National Park (Drive)

After breakfast, we head south to Lake Mburo National Park, passing through rural Uganda with its lush green landscapes, villages, and local communities. After a freshly prepared lunch at a local restaurant, we stop at the Equator for a chance to separate fact from myth and snap a photo with one foot in each hemisphere. Upon reaching Lake Mburo National Park, we embark on our first game drive, the best place in Uganda to spot eland antelopes, zebras, topis, impalas, and acacia. The park's five lakes attract hippos, crocodiles, and around 330 species of water birds. In the evening, you can enjoy an optional guided safari walk.

Overnight: Option 1: Rwakobo Rock Lodge, Lake Mburo National Park / Option 2: Kigambira Lodge, Lake Mburo National Park (1 night) (B, L, D)

Day 03: Lake Mburo National Park/Bwindi (Drive)

We continue through the scenic rural landscapes of Uganda as we drive to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, you'll see stunning terraced farms and villages, and meet the welcoming locals. While best known for its mountain gorillas, Bwindi's montane forest also attracts spectacular birdlife, including 24 Albertine Rift endemics like the African Green Broadbill and Bar-tailed Trogon. Tonight, rest up for an exciting day of gorilla tracking ahead.

Overnight: Option 1: Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge, Bwindi / Option 2: Four Gorillas Lodge, Bwindi (2 nights) (B, L, D)

Day 04: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

An exciting day begins at 7:30 AM as we join a small group of no more than eight for an unforgettable experience. Don’t forget to bring your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear for tracking the rare mountain gorillas. This trek is considered one of the most thrilling wildlife activities in the world, with only around 650 mountain gorillas remaining. Groups are allocated based on physical ability, and the trek may take 2 to 6 hours, with every moment filled with excitement. Our experienced park guides will share insights about the flora, fauna, and the gorillas' lifestyle. In the afternoon, you can relax at the lodge or opt for a village walk, returning before dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 05: Bwindi/Parc National des Volcans (Drive) (RWANDA)

Gorilla in Volcano National Park

Today, we say goodbye to Uganda and enter Rwanda, the land of chimps and gorillas. While Uganda was influenced by British colonialism, Rwanda was part of German East Africa. The impact of these different colonial pasts is evident. As we cross the border, we are greeted by beautiful scenery and terraced farming. We arrive at the renowned Parc National des Volcans in the town of Musanze just in time for lunch.

The afternoon is free for optional activities such as walking around the valley or watching a performance by the Ibyiwatu Cultural group (contact Bestway to pre-book). This performance offers a glimpse into their culture, music, dance, drama, and hospitality. We'll enjoy dinner at our hotel and retire early to prepare for our early morning gorilla trek the following day.

Overnight: Option 1: Davinci Lodge, Musanze / Option 2: Five Volcanoes Boutique Lodge, Musanze (2 nights) (B, L, D)

Day 06: Gorilla Tracking – Volcanoes National Park

Gorilla in Volcano National Park

Wake up early to be ready for our second gorilla trek. Don't forget to pack all the necessary gear for tracking these rare mountain gorillas. Today, we'll embark on another unforgettable wildlife adventure. The vibrant birdcalls and chatter of golden monkeys in the forest will eventually lead us to the gorillas in their natural habitat.

Gazing into the eyes of these gentle giants is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our expert guide will explain the flora, fauna, and lifestyle of the gorillas. After this incredible adventure, return to the lodge.

The afternoon is free to relax. This region is famous for golden monkey tracking, an exciting optional activity that lasts about two hours (contact Bestway to pre-book). Or, if you prefer, you can simply unwind and enjoy some downtime. (B, L, D)

Day 07: Park National des Volcans/Depart Kigali (Drive)

We'll start our day with a drive to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. This relatively short journey will allow us to explore Kigali, a city renowned for its cleanliness. Our first stop will be the Genocide Museum, where we'll learn about the devastating 1994 genocide against the Tutsi people. Over 250,000 lives were tragically lost during this horrific event.

After visiting the museum, we'll head to the Caplaki Crafts Center. Our tour will conclude with a late lunch at the famous Hotel Rwanda (now Hotel de Milles Collines). This hotel served as a safe haven for over a thousand Tutsis during the genocide. The hotel manager, Paul Ruseesabagina, a Hutu himself, courageously protected these refugees at great personal risk. The events of that time were vividly depicted in the film "Hotel Rwanda." We'll have the opportunity to walk through the hotel's premises and reflect on the extraordinary humanitarian efforts made during this dark period.

Later, we'll be transferred to the airport for our departing flight, which must be scheduled for after 5 PM. (B, L)

B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner
