Long located at the crossroads of some of Europe’s main cultural and trade routes, Slovenia has a rich history to offer. On this 7-day journey, we dive deep into the country’s beautiful sites, including Ljubljana, known for its distinctive architecture mixing modern and traditional, Postojna Cave, one of the largest cave complexes in Europe, Bled, with its picture perfect medieval castle set against a backdrop of the majestic Julian Alps, and beyond. We also discover Slovenia’s flavourful culinary traditions with the chance to dine at a local farm and participate in not one, but two, wine tastings!

Day 01: Arrive Ljubljana
Welcome to Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia! One of Europe’s greenest capitals, Ljubljana is known for its unique mix of modern-day and traditional architecture. Upon arrival, we will be met and transferred to our hotel. Rest of the day is free to relax or start exploring Ljubljana on our own. Check in time starts from 1500 hrs. and our hotel is located right in the heart of the city. This evening, we meet our fellow travelers for the orientation meeting, including a welcome drink.
Overnight: Hotel Slon, Ljubljana (2 nights)
Day 02: Ljubljana
In the morning, we enjoy a sightseeing tour of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. After our tour, we will have some free time for lunch (on your own). Then, we take a cable car to Ljubljana castle, a medieval fortress thought to have been constructed in the 11th century. Here, we enjoy a wine tasting of some excellent Slovenian wines with an amazing view of Ljubljana. (B)
Day 03: Ljubljana/Postojna/Piran (Drive)
After breakfast, we travel to the Karst region. Our first stop is at Postojna Cave, one of the largest cave complexes in Europe. We tour this unique subterranean world by miniature electric train. Afterwards, we proceed to a nearby Teran wine producer for a wine and prosciutto tasting. To culminate the day, we drive to Piran, a seaside resort known for its long pier and astounding Venetian architecture.

Day 04: Piran/Portoroz/Goriska Brda/Nova Gorica (Drive)
We see the highlights of Piran before heading to the popular tourist resort of Portoroz, on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast. We continue to the hilly region of Goriska Brda and discover the charming town of Smartno, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner at a local tourist farm. Set in Slovenia’s Littoral region, the entire village here has been declared a cultural heritage monument. We then check into our hotel in Nova Gorica.

Day 05: Nova Gorica/Soca Vallley/Bled (Drive)
After breakfast, we drive along the emerald green Soca River, through Kobarid, featured in Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms, and stop to visit the First World War Museum. Later, we see the Boka waterfall before driving to the historical city of Bled. Our evening today, is at leisure at Hotel Park, which overlooks Lake Bled and is on the Bled Promenade.

Day 06: Bled
A beautiful alpine lake surrounded by high peaks, Bled was “discovered” by travelers in the middle of the 19th century. Since then, a small town of hotels, villas and restaurants has developed around the lake, turning Bled into a lively, all-seasons resort. A sightseeing tour here features the charming town and the lakeshore, as well as a visit to the imposing Bled Castle. Built about a thousand years ago, the castle is perched on a cliff high above the lake. We then return to the lake shore and taste the famous Bled cream cake. In the afternoon, we have the chance to discover another beauty of the alpine, Lake Bohinj. Here, we enjoy a relaxing walk along the lake shore and take a cable car to Mount Vogel. Enjoy some cheese tasting and admire stunning views of the Julian Alps. Tonight, we celebrate with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D)
Day 07: Bled/Depart Ljubljana (Drive)
After breakfast, we are transferred to Ljubljana airport. Check out time is by 1100 hrs. (B)
