Jambo! We are cordially welcomed as we arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Karibu (welcome in Swahili) and your guide meets you at the pick-up point. During your transfer to your hotel, he will give insights to some facts of the land of Kilimanjaro – the world’s tallest free-standing mountain. Balance of the day is free. Arusha is the exact midpoint between Cairo and Cape Town and is also the gateway to the safari game parks of Northern Tanzania and some of the game parks in Kenya.

An 0800 AM departure after breakfast and we are on our jeeps spearheading through the Masi country towards the enchanting Lake Manyara National Park.  Arriving the enchanting Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive and taken in the breathtaking scenery and is famous for its Tree climbing Lion, Flamingos in the lake shore, the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle. This small park is sandwiched between the Rift Valley escarpment and Lake Manyara. The permanent residents here also include Leopard, Giraffes, Elephants, Impalas and a huge number of Buffaloes. There is also a growing population of Baboons and Blue monkeys. Optional activities include Night Game Drive at Lake Manyara. Details found in our “Notes” section.

After breakfast we safari through to the legendary Serengeti National Park. The drive takes us across the Great Rift Valley to Ndutu an iconic safari destination located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Famous as the primary calving ground for the Great Migration, it offers exceptional, close-up wildlife viewing, particularly between December and April when thousands of wildebeest are born daily. Serengeti is renowned for its year-round concentration of wildlife. Enjoy an afternoon game drive seeing lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and numerous antelope species – all in their natural habitat.

Overnight: Serengeti Serena Lodge/Serena Mbuzi Mawe Camp, Serengeti (2 nights) (B, L, D)

The incredible Serengeti National Park is a must-see for any wild game safaris. It is world renowned for its annual migration of over 2million white bearded (or brindled) wildebeest and another 250,000 zebras. Serengeti is widely regarded as the best wildlife reserve in Africa due to its density of predators and prey. Other animals include Topi, Buffalo, Hartebeest, and ofcourse the apex predators like Lion, Cheetah, Leopards, Hyena. There is also a very good birdlife to be availed. After breakfast we enjoy another day in the famous Serengeti, with morning and afternoon game drives and picnic lunch. Your safari guide will explore various areas Moro kopjes and Gol kopjes. The extensive grasslands are interspersed with Kopjes rocky outcrops like islands in the flat plain, each with their own wildlife communities. Midday drive to Nabi Hill gate where you will enjoy picnic lunch. Continue the game drive as we proceed towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Malanja Depression passing through various Masai Villages reaching Karatu. Optional visit to Olduvai Gorge and museum (One of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites) and optional activities include Hotel Air Balloon Safari and visit to a Masai village. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge/Angeta Camp, Ngorongoro (1 night) (B, L, D)

Following breakfast, we travel to Ngorongoro Crater for a 6-hour game safari. Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The jewel in Ngorongoro's crown is a deep, volcanic crater, which is the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20 Kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 Sq. Kms in area, this crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. The rich pasture and permanent water of the crater floor support a large resident population of wildlife, including up to 25,000 predominantly grazing animals such as wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, buffalo, eland, kongoni and warthogs.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to the best game parks in the world and drive via the Great Rift valley to Arusha. Stops enroute for last minute opportunity to appreciate the local craft and shop for souvenirs at the African villages of Mto wa Mbu and Makuyuni. At around midday, we arrive Arusha and are transferred to Arusha airport. Do note that there are two airports in this area. Arusha Airport (AKS) services mostly the domestic airports in Tanzania and the Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) services international flights. The driving distance between the two airport is about 1.5hrs. So, for any flights from JRO should not be departing before 6 PM. A complimentary transfer will be provided from Arusha to JRO.  (B, L)
