Day 01: Arrive Zanzibar

As we arrive at the island of Zanzibar, we are welcomed with the traditional warmth that the island and its people are famous for before being transferred to our hotel. Evening enjoy free time to stroll on the beach or better still, walk through the enchanting narrow streets reminiscent of Arabian Nights.

Day 02: Zanzibar

An exciting full day tour of Zanzibar. We start with the Prison Island, known locally as Changuu. Experience a traditional boat, seeing local fishermen going around in search of their daily catch. At Changuu, we see the island’s most famous inhabitant – a 190-year-old tortoise wandering the island and always ready to pose for a photo session! After taking in the local museum and some friendly reptiles, we have time to enjoy a swim, snorkel or just laze on the beach.

Afternoon is dedicated to historic Stone Town*, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we see how the once thriving slave market functioned and explore the remains of the slave lodgings before we going back in time as we walk through the narrow 1001 Nights-style streets. This is followed by a visit to the Anglican Church built in 1873 and the landmark House of Wonders (Zanzibar Museum). From here we visit the deposed Sultan’s Palace and Livingstone House & Market (opened 1904). The morning tour will also show us some of the elaborately carved wooden doors for which the city is famous, as well as give us time to taste some of the island’s renowned tropical fruit. (B)

Day 03: Zanzibar

Today is free to enjoy the many attractions the island offers. Relax on world-class beaches, wander through the town’s enchanting streets and markets, take a specialized tour of the doors of Zanzibar and explore Swahili culture, history and much more. (B)

Day 04: Zanzibar/Departure

After an unforgettable journey through time, we are transferred to the airport for our departure flight back home. Alternatively, extend your island journey with other exciting activities, including optional activities on Zanzibar ranching from cycling to scuba diving, relaxation on the stunning white beaches of Zanzibar’s Jambiani, or a visit to the neighbouring island of Pemba.
