Zanzibar is famous for the tranquil life where time has stood still. Once ruled by the Arab Sultan of Oman, influenced by the Persians, Indians and Yemenites, “protected” rule by the British, the island unified with Tanganyika in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanzania. This tiny island with unique Swahili architecture is truly the world in a miniature or rather what the world should be! Zanzibar is well connected with ferry services from Dar es Salaam as well as flights from Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro, Johannesburg, Muscat, Dubai, Doha, etc.
