Day 01: Feb 22, 2026: Arrive Kochi (Cochin)

Namaste! Welcome to Cochin. We are welcomed the traditional Indian way with hands clapped together. After clearing Immigration, baggage collection and customs, we are met and warmly welcomed by Bestway Tours ground staff and transferred to our hotel.  Hotel check-in time is 1400hrs. Kochi, is now the official name of the city. In actual fact it was the name for over 300 years but anglicised by the British, to Cochin.

It is recommended that you arrive Kochi no later than 2 PM which will give you time to rest and enjoy the cocktail hour and Welcome Dinner especially curated by Chef Joe.

The mouth-watering Welcome Dinner will be put together by Chef Joe and the local chef of Brunton Boatyard. This will be the first of many tastes of Indian cuisines that we will experience. We have a 2-night stay at the elegant Taj Malabar.

Day 02: Feb 23, 2026: Kochi

This charming town is distinguished by considerable European influences especially in its architecture. It is picturesquely located on several islands between the Arabian Sea and the Kerala backwaters. Reflecting the maritime history of Kochi, the old buildings are a blend of Dutch, Portuguese and British architecture.

Morning, we go on a heritage walk from Fort Kochi and visit St. Francis Church - the oldest European church in India and also the original burial site of the renowned Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama. Next, we visit the highly decorated Santa Cruz Basilica followed by visit of the harbor where we see the famous Chinese fishing nets in action. Chef Joe displays us with his extraordinary skills to buy the best catch of the day which he will prepare to be served during our dinner for us. We also, visit some local eateries that offer the best of traditional local breakfast and try some local delicacies before heading to our hotel.

After breakfast, we wander through the old districts of Mattancherry and Fort Kochi where we see various European influences, merchant houses and old warehouses, the beautiful waterfront and narrow streets. Allow time to admire the colourful murals, including depictions of the Ramayana, in the 16th C. Dutch Palace and visit the 1568 built Pardesi Synagogue in Jewish Town.

Afternoon, enjoy cruise on a chartered boat to visit the Bolghatty Palace, now a heritage hotel and observe the fascinating Chinese fishing nets in action, a sight most coveted by photographers internationally.

Evening, we attend a Kathakali show where the epic Ramayana comes to life. Classical dancers use larger than life gestures, wear outstanding and unique costumes with elaborate make up.  Dinner at our hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 03: Feb 24, 2026: Kochi/Thekkady (Drive 155 Kms/4 hours)

The day starts with a scenic drive to Periyar, known also as Thekkady, where we visit the British-built dam in 1895. Periyar is a wildlife reserve, providing an ideal environment to track wild elephants, bison, deer, and various bird species. The tropical landscape surrounding us is adorned with tea, coffee, and other spices, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Afternoon, is set aside to enjoy a boat cruise on the lake within the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. From the tranquil setting of the lake, we will be impressed with the lush scenery while keeping an eye out for animals that come to the water's edge. It is common to spot herds of elephants, wild boars, or the magnificent Sambar Deer, enhancing our boating experience. Evening, Chef Joe and a team of master chefs, representing various regions of the country, prepare a selection of dishes showcasing authentic flavors and aromas. Specializing in popular regional cuisines, each chef's expertise adds to the exquisite dining experience, allowing us to indulge in the exotic preparations. After an exclusive cooking session at the Spice Village, we taste the local delicate at dinner. We have a 2night stay at the Spice Village.

Day 04: Feb 25, 2026: Thekkady

An early morning guided Jungle walk through the Periyar Tiger Reserve, offering us a chance to see wildlife up close. The three hours walk is at an easy to moderate level. Periyar is home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers and leopards. We then enjoy breakfast at our hotel.

Later in the afternoon, we visit a family home belonging to a native tribe, where we explore a spice plantation. This organic plantation employs natural pest control methods and showcases a range of spices and herbs used for culinary and medicinal purposes. The owner and his family, who possess extensive knowledge about their produce, guide us through the plantation and encourage us to engage our senses by smelling and tasting various clippings. Witness a demonstration of a home-cooked meal using the locally grown organic spices, and enjoy lunch with the family. For those interested, Chef Joe will introduce us to eating with our fingers in the traditional Indian way.

Evening, we attend a Kalaripayattu show, an ancient martial art form considered the mother of all martial arts. The art form is believed to have originated 3000 years ago with sage Parasurama, who is credited with reclaiming Kerala from the Arabian Sea. The show highlights the skill, agility and cultural significance of Kalaripayatt and its influences on martial arts around the world.

Throughout the day, we engage in immersive experiences that connect us with nature, culture, and traditions. From the jungle walk to the spice plantation and the Kalaripayattu show, we experience the beauty and significance of these aspects of Periyar. (B, L, D)

Day 05: Feb 26, 2026: Thekkady/Kumarakom (Drive 140 Kms/4 hours)

After a leisurely breakfast we drive to Kumarakom. Upon arrival we check into our hotel. Here we attend a cooking demo followed by lunch. Evening dinner at the Coconut Lagoon, Kumarakom. We have a 2night stay in Kumarakom - a small town with a population of around 30,000 well known for the Bird Sanctuary, Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls, Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple, Kumarakom Beach, Pathiramanal Island.

Day 06: Feb 27, 2026: Kumarakom (Backwaters)

Morning is free for personal activities. There is a lot to do here with the forests, lakes, enchanting waterways, walking trails, etc. Late morning, we board our private houseboat and take a four-hour cruise along the famous backwaters of Kerala from Kumarakom to Alleppey. Lunch is on board our houseboat. Our journey begins through the picturesque backwaters and small lakes relaxing in the tranquility of Kerala's beautiful scenery. As we cruise, we come across many boats, canoes and other water crafts and observe the traditional way of life and activities of the local people. Families live on the banks of the river and earn their livelihood from it too. Dinner at the Coconut Lagoon. (B, L, D)

Day 07: Feb 28, 2026: Kumarakom/Kothamanglam (Drive 90 Kms/3 hours) & Kothamanglam/Thrissur (Drive 80 Kms/2 hours)

After breakfast, we drive to Kothamanagalam and visit the rubber and coconut plantations. Our guides for the day are Peter and Pushpamma Jose, Chef Joe's in-laws. They will take us on a tour of their plantations, providing insights into their work with nature. We will see the cultivation of rubber and coconut and learn about their significance. After the plantation visit, we enjoy a pleasant lunch. Experience the typical cultural traits on the extended families in Kerala.

Following Kothamanagalam, we drive to Thrissur for a 2-night stay at the Hyatt Regency in Thrisur. Balance of the day is free. Dinner at our hotel.

Day 08: Mar 01, 2026: Thrissur

Today is another facet of the family cultural values as we visit Joe's ancestral home and get a glimpse into Kerala's family life and get to know what inspired Joe into cooking. We are warmly welcomed by Joe's extended family, giving us the chance to experience local customs and engage in discussions about Indian culture, rituals, family life, religion and of course, food. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared exclusively for us by Mama Joe.

This day offers a unique blend of family connections, cultural insights, and culinary experiences. It allows us to appreciate the cultural heritage of Kerala. while also getting a glimpse into Joe's personal background and the traditions that shaped him. (B, L, D)

Day 09: Mar 02, 2026: Thrissur/Kochi (Drive 60 Kms/1 hour) & Kochi/Jaipur (Flight)

Early morning, we bid farewell to Kerala and board our flight to Jaipur. Jaipur is the capital of the State of Rajasthan (land of the rajahs). Planned by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, Jaipur holds the distinction of being the first planned city of India. Renowned globally for its coloured gems, the capital city of Rajasthan combines the allure of its ancient history with all the advantages of a metropolis.

Late afternoon, we discover the culinary delights of Rajasthan with Chef Aishwarya at Atelier by Aisho, Jaipur's premier cooking workshop offering immersive hands-on experiences. Jaipur, for what it offers, we have a 3-night stay at the ITC Rajputana–a 5* Luxury Collection Hotel.

Day 10: Mar 03, 2026: Jaipur

This morning, we are treated like the royalty of yesteryear with a journey to the Amber Fort, located in a picturesque valley among the Kalikho Hills. Known as the gem of Jaipur, this imposing fort dating from the late 16th century was never attacked or invaded. Built from a combination of yellow and pink sandstone and white marble, the fort includes distinguished halls, intricate carvings and ornate gardens. At Jaipur we visit the majestic City Palace, which houses a rare collection of Indian art. We also stop at the stunning Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, where the ladies of the royal harem used to watch the city from behind the intricately carved façade. This is the famous Pink City area. At Jantar Mantar*, we see a historic astronomical observation site boasting instruments used to star-gaze with the naked eye. (B, D)

Day 11: Mar 04, 2026: Jaipur HOLI FESTIVAL

Today is the festival day called Holi – the festival of colours. Traditionally, Holi has a cultural significance among various Hindu traditions of the Indian subcontinent. It is the festive day to end and rid oneself of past errors, to end conflicts by meeting others, a day to forget and forgive. People pay or forgive debts, as well as deal anew with those in their lives. Today, it is more known as the “festival of colour”.  The colors seen during Holi symbolize different things. Blue represents the color of Lord Krishna's skin while green symbolizes spring and rebirth. Red symbolizes marriage or fertility while both red and yellow — commonly used in ritual and ceremony — symbolize auspiciousness. There is a lot of fun and here is our schedule of the day.

We will start late morning for a 3-4 hours of festive activities. Colours used are only herbal Gulal.

Dress Code: A Set of Kurta Paijama (Let us know your size and we will provide the same with our compliments).

Attractions: DJ Music with traditional Holi festival songs, a Pint of beer or one glass of Indian liquor/glass of orange juice or Lassi with festival snacks with our compliments. This will be followed by lunch included.

Day 12: Mar 05, 2026: Jaipur/Agra (Drive 245 Kms/6 hours)

After breakfast we drive to Agra and check into our hotel. At sunset, we visit to one of the most well-known wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal*. An immense mausoleum of white marble, built between 1631 and 1648. Taj was built by the Moghul Emperor, Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is the jewel of Muslim art in India and a universally admired masterpiece of world heritage. Situated on the right bank of the Yamuna in a vast Moghul garden, this funerary monument combines elements and styles of Persian, Central Asian and Islamic architecture. After visiting the Taj Mahal, we return to our hotel.

Evening we witness Taj Mahal under full moon light. Taj Mahal's pure white marble shimmers silver in the moonlight. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description. The Taj glows from the light of the full moon. The romanticism and sheer majesty of the structure is unbelievably true! No wonder millions of people chose it as amongst the World’s top wonders. Taj Mahal is monument of Love and to see it under the Full moon is a special treat.

The duration of visit is 30 minutes. On this night, Agra does not sleep.

Day 13: Mar 06, 2026: Agra/Delhi (Drive 220 Kms/4 hours)

After breakfast we visit Agra Fort*. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses the spectacular imperial city of the Moghul rulers. Explore fairy-tale palaces, audience halls and two very beautiful mosques. It was at the Agra Fort that Shah Jehan, the builder, was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb. In July 1658, Aurangzeb declared Shah Jahan incompetent to rule and imprisoned him in the Agra Fort. Shah Jahan remained imprisoned until his death in January 1666. Shah Jahan spent his final years in the tower of the Agra Fort, where he could look out the window and see the Taj Mahal across the river.

Afternoon we drive to Delhi. On arrival we check into our hotel.

Day 14: Mar 07, 2026: Delhi

After breakfast, we take a journey into the heart of New Delhi, where grandeur meets modernity. Visit the majestic Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a stunning example of Mughal architecture. Marvel at its intricate design and lush gardens, soaking in the serenity of this timeless monument. Next, we visit Qutub Minar and its Monuments* Built in the early 13th century the red sandstone tower of Qutub Minar is 72.5 m high. The surrounding archaeological area contains funerary buildings, notably the magnificent Alai-Darwaza Gate, a masterpiece of Indo-Muslim art and two mosques.

After that, we visit the house of Mrs. Jyoti Agarwal to enjoy a cooking class followed by a sumptuous lunch with Jyoti and her family at their home. Learn to prepare a delicious home cooked Indian meal supervised by Jyoti and share it with your hosts and friends-real Indian style! Day 15: Mar 08, 2026: Delhi/Amritsar (Flight)

A morning flight to Amritsar and check in at the Hyat Regency for a 2-night stay. Late afternoon, we visit the iconic Golden Temple, a spiritual sanctuary and architectural marvel. Immerse yourself in its tranquil ambiance and witness the devotion of the Sikh community. Don't miss the heartwarming experience of visiting the Community Kitchen, where volunteers tirelessly serve meals to thousands of pilgrims every day, embodying their spirit of selfless service. Prepare your taste buds for an exciting culinary expedition through the streets of Amritsar. Today we embark on an enriching journey into the heart of Punjab with our exclusive Amritsar Village Tour.

Our day begins with a hearty breakfast before departing early morning to a local village. Here, we will be greeted with a warm welcome by the community, offering you an intimate glimpse into their daily lives and traditions. Punjab is known for its rural based culture. Late morning, we dive into a culinary adventure with a visit to the bustling village market, accompanied by our knowledgeable local guide. Here, you'll discover the secrets of traditional Punjabi ingredients and spices, immersing yourself in the vibrant tapestry of local flavors. Punjab, the land between 5 rivers, is the breadbasket of India.

Afternoon, we visit the Wagah border between India & Pakistan to watch the spectacular Retreat Ceremony put on by the India's Border Security Force and Pakistan's Sutlej Rangers at sunset. 30 Kms on the road to Lahore is the India-Pakistan Border. A visit to the border is an interesting experience especially at Sunset, when the retreat ceremony takes place with the Border Security Force on the Indian Side and the Sutlej Rangers on the Pakistan side putting up a well-coordinated and spectacular display. The sound from the Bugles blown together from both sides simultaneously flags of the two nations are ceremoniously retrieved and lights are switched off marking the end of the day. Amidst thunderous applause today, this point is the only land route open to approach Pakistan and Central Asia. (B, L, D)
