International air not included

As your plane descends towards Entebbe International Airport, the vast expanse of Lake Victoria welcomes you to the Pearl of Africa. We are met at the airport and transferred to our hotel.

Overnight: Airport Link Guest House (3-star), Entebbe (1 night)

Depart Entebbe by road to Kibale National Park. Alternatively, upgrade to a flight to Kasese airstrip with transfer to the park to save time and enjoy a lovely overland view of Uganda (weather permitting). Flight at additional cost, with details found in our pricing section.

Our destination is Kibale Forest National Park, a tropical rainforest renowned for its diverse wildlife. Here, we can discover 13 different primate species, including the elusive chimpanzee, as well as other fascinating animals like the bush pig, duiker, otter, and migrating elephants. The park's abundant birdlife will also delight nature enthusiasts.

Upon arrival at the lodge in the afternoon, you may choose to either relax or join an optional guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This excursion into the Magombe Swamp is a premier community-led initiative and a vital corridor for biodiversity. The wetland supports eight primate species—including the Red Colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey—and serves as a haven for over 200 bird species, most notably the Great Blue Turaco. You may also spot smaller mammals such as sitatungas and otters along the swamp's boardwalks. Find prices in our pricing section and pre-book with Bestway.

Overnight: Chimpanzee Forest Lodge (3-star), Kibale (1 night) (B, L, D)

Today, trek through the lush forests of Kibale National Park in search of chimpanzees.

As we venture deeper into the forest, we will have the opportunity to see a family of these intelligent primates. Watch in awe as they swinging gracefully through the trees, groom each other, and play. Their expressive faces and playful antics offer an interesting glimpse into their complex social life.

Later in the afternoon, we travel from Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park. As we leave the forests of Kibale, rolling hills, wide savannah plains, and distant mountains come into view. Herds of antelope dot the savannah. En route to our lodge, we enjoy a game drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park, established in 1952, is Uganda's most visited national park and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, famous for its tree-climbing lions and extraordinary biodiversity with over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species.

Upon arrival, time to relax before our evening game drive.

Overnight: Buffalo Safari Lodge/Twin Lakes Safari Lodge (3-star), Queen Elizabeth National Park (2 nights) (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we set off and soon arrive at the gates of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the wilderness awaits on our morning game drive. From the pop-up roof of our vehicle, we may be greeted by the sights and sounds of the African bush—elephants trumpeting, lions roaring, and the haunting call of fish eagles overhead. Uganda’s second largest wildlife sanctuary is known for its abundant wildlife, including buffalo, elephants, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards, baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs, waterbucks, and even the elusive giant forest hog.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, home to a large concentration of hippos, as well as herds of elephant, buffalo and other wildlife that come to drink. After our cruise, return to our lodge. If time allows, an optional final visit to the Kasoga Community provides insight into local fishing traditions and salt mining practices before we return to the lodge. This community-led experience on the shores of Lake George highlights sustainable livelihoods and cultural heritage within the Queen Elizabeth ecosystem (at additional cost). (B, L, D)

After breakfast, transfer on to the world famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. As our vehicle winds its way through the countryside, we are treated to breathtaking views of the Rwenzori Mountains, and pass through charming villages and market towns.

Along the way, an optional stop at a local school within the community is available at an additional cost as part of a "Pack, Give and Conserve" initiative. This visit provides an opportunity to directly support a vulnerable school and its students, contributing to the development and well-being of the local community.

Later, we arrive at our accommodation, scenically set on Lake Mulehe.

Overnight: Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge (4-star), Bwindi (2 nights) (B, L, D)

Our adventure begins early as we join a small group of no more than eight for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Don’t forget to pack your lunch and essential gear for tracking the rare mountain gorillas. This trek, one of the world’s most thrilling wildlife encounters, can last between 2 to 6 hours and is organized based on physical ability. Our experienced park guides will share valuable insights into the local flora, fauna, and the gorillas' behavior. If time permits, there are optional activities unique to Bwindi (at additional cost) that you can participate in during the afternoon. (B, L, D)

Optional activities available: Coffee tour, Canoe ride on lake Mulehe (at additional cost; prices available upon request)

Red-tailed monkey in the jungle, Lake Mburo National Pakr

Very early in the morning, we enjoy a warm breakfast before setting off on a journey from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Lake Mburo National Park, passing through the diverse landscapes of southwestern Uganda. Approaching Lake Mburo, the scenery shifts to acacia woodlands and open grasslands, revealing a unique and compact gem among Uganda’s national parks. This wildlife sanctuary offers excellent plains game viewing and is the best spot to see eland, zebra, topi, and impala. We can also expect to see giraffes, bushbucks, warthogs, vervet and red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, pygmy and white-tailed mongooses, and buffalo. Keep a lookout, as we may even be lucky enough to spy a leopard!

As we arrive at Kigarama Wilderness Lodge, perched on the rolling hills of Kigarama, we are welcomed with warm smiles. Depending on your arrival time, we conclude the day with an afternoon walk through the savannah. This provides a unique opportunity to observe wildlife such as zebras, antelopes, and giraffes on foot for a closer perspective of the park’s residents. For those interested in local heritage, an optional community visit to an Ankole cattle farm is available at an additional cost. Here, you can experience the deep-rooted traditions and pastoral culture of the Ankole people, centered around their iconic long-horned cattle.

Overnight: Kigarama Wilderness Lodge (4-star), Lake Mburo National Park (1 night) (B, L, D)

Begin your final day in Uganda with an early morning guided walking safari. This is a premier opportunity to track wildlife on foot, including African buffalo, giraffes, antelopes, and various bird species. Moving through the wilderness at dawn increases the chances of encountering predators like leopards before they retreat from the morning sun.

Following the safari, you may choose to fly directly to Entebbe International Airport or embark on a scenic drive. The overland route includes a stop at the Equator marker, where you can stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres simultaneously. If time permits, we will also visit the Royal drum makers in Mpambire to observe traditional craftsmanship. We conclude the journey at Entebbe International Airport in time for your departure. Please ensure onward international flights are booked for the evening to allow for travel time. (B)
