Day 02: Entebbe/Kibale (Drive)

Embark on a thrilling adventure as we depart from Entebbe at dawn. Enjoy a delicious breakfast before setting off with our knowledgeable guide. Keep our camera ready to capture the breathtaking scenery as we travel through central Uganda to the picturesque Crater Lakes region.

Our destination is Kibale Forest National Park, a tropical rainforest renowned for its diverse wildlife. Here, we can discover 13 different primate species, including the elusive chimpanzee, as well as other fascinating animals like the bush pig, duiker, otter, and migrating elephants. The park's abundant birdlife will also delight nature enthusiasts.

As we approach Guereza Canopy Lodge in the afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetlands sanctuary. This local community initiative is home to 8 primate species, over 200 bird species, and various other small mammals and reptiles. Optionally, enjoy a leisurely nature walk here before continuing to our accommodation (US$ 40 per person – contact Bestway to pre-book).

At first light, after breakfast, we set off and soon arrive at the gates of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the wilderness awaits on our morning game drive. From the pop-up roof of our vehicle, we may be greeted by the sights and sounds of the African bush—elephants trumpeting, lions roaring, and the haunting call of fish eagles overhead. Uganda’s second largest wildlife sanctuary is known for its abundant wildlife, including buffalo, elephants, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards, baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs, waterbucks, and even the elusive giant forest hog.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, home to a large concentration of hippos, as well as herds of elephant, buffalo and other wildlife that come to drink. After our cruise, return to our lodge. (B, D)
